Our Off-Road Team

Confluence928 Off-Road Team

About Us

Confluence928 is a grassroots off-road bike racing team. We have 5 riders competing at the Pro level and several others competing in their respective categories.  We will participate in marathon mountain bike races, gravel bike races, and ultra marathon bikepacking races. Every Elite and Expert racer on the team has a role on the team outside of racing that gives back to the community they live in.

While racing at the top level in the U.S. is one of our primary goals and focus, Confluence928 is designed as a platform to reach out and serve the communities we live in and travel to, teaching kids the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and the importance of wearing a helmet.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a community around cycling in the Verde Valley through the following:

  • Support local initiatives that create safe, accessible and connected trail systems

  • Promote the physical and mental health benefits of cycling

  • Mentor local youth and educate on the importance of wearing a helmet and a healthy lifestyle

  • Support young, talented men and women to fulfill their dreams of traveling as a professional bike racer.

Meet The Team

Amy Chandos - Captain

Amy started competing as a cyclist as a college freshman, after searching for an athletic outlet and trying several different clubs. Her cycling journey started on the road, where she competed in the USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals and in the U23 Road Race Nationals. After moving to Flagstaff, Arizona for a graduate program, she decided to add mountain biking to her cycling repertoire. Over her cycling career she has won six mountain bike national titles, several state championships in multiple disciplines in both California and Arizona, and has coached youth cycling for four years. In 2024 she is looking forward to several races, including the Whiskey 50, Pikes Peak Apex, and the Breck Epic.

Quinn Travis

Quinn has been racing at the pro level for a little over two years and is a big part of the cycling community here in Arizona. He has goals of racing the Leadville 100, placing top 20 in Unbound gravel XL, and to break some long distance FKT’s here in Arizona. Besides being on his bike, he loves to spend quality time outside with his fiancé Kenzie and their growing family.

Outside of being uber fast, his passion for the youth development program and finding young talented racers is a huge reason why he wanted to developed this team!

Calhan Norman

Calhan is a cyclist of 23 years old and has been racing for the past 14 years (4 pro). Originally from Wisconsin, he developed a hard work ethic along with the desire for racing bikes. He has traveled all over the country racing and riding bikes with others. Calhan is an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America, which has allowed him to participate and lead various volunteer activities over the past 10 years. For work, he develops E-Bikes for Lectric Ebikes alongside fellow teammate Austin Gomes. Calhan now resides in Phoenix, Arizona soaking up the sun and spreading the good of bikes.

Austin Gomez

Austin is 25 years old and originally from Old Jamestown Missouri, but currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona. He first started riding bikes at 4 years old and quickly fell in love with the sport. At 6 years old he did my first race, which marked the start of his participation in charity races such as Tour de Cure and Tour de Donuts. Finally, at the age of 11, he started racing bikes competitively. His passion for bikes carried on through my years at Lindenwood University where he earned a degree in business while racing all 5 disciplines including Road, Mountain, Track, Cyclocross, and BMX. During this time, he raced with Project Echelon and Gateway Devo traveling the US to race criteriums and road races professionally. Today, he enjoys the off-road scene and spend most of his time on a mountain bike. Aside from riding, he enjoy country dancing and being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping.

Kristen Krahulik

Kristen first started racing bikes at Indiana University, participating in the Little 500 from 2014-2017. She then moved out west for graduate school and was introduced to the world of mountain biking. In 2021 she entered the mountain bike race scene and moved to Flagstaff, AZ to pursue goals on and off the bike. Kristen works as an occupational therapist helping people get back to doing what is most important to them after accidents and illnesses. She gives back to her community by coaching Flagstaff Youth Riders (FLYRS) and attending trail building sessions expanding trail access in Northern Arizona. Kristen continues to ride and race as much as possible to serve as an ambassador for the mountain bike community and to grow the sport she loves.

Joe Krahulik

Joe grew up around bikes in Indianapolis, but it wasn't until his participation in Indiana University's Little 500 that he caught the bike racing bug. From there, he found success competing in Midwest criteriums and racing at the local Major Taylor Velodrome. Following a relocation to Phoenix for his job as a data engineer in 2020, Joe went fully in on mountain biking--riding the South Mountain trails daily and entering his first mountain bike races during the 2021 season. Nowadays Joe lives in Flagstaff with his fiancee Kristen where he continues to take advantage of Northern Arizona bountiful trails. Off the bike Joe is a regular at trail building dig days and serves as the head coach of the 3rd-5th grade FLYRS program.
